Big News: CalendarHero has been acquired

To our customers, partners, and supporters: 

I started CalendarHero (formerly known as Zoom.ai) to solve a problem I was personally having at work: too many meetings. Meetings consumed my time with scheduling, rescheduling, and preparation, becoming a distraction from more important work. I wanted to have my own executive assistant, but like the majority of professionals, I couldn’t get one. 

So in 2016, I founded a tech company to build an AI (artificial intelligence) executive assistant. 

In the beginning, we experimented with automating the typical EA duties, including ordering an Uber to get you to your next meeting, finding you the best flights for business trips, gathering information, generating documents, and even IT support ticketing. However, our first love and number one problem to solve for our customers has always been meeting scheduling.

By the Spring of 2019, we successfully pivoted to focus on meeting scheduling and helping small and medium-sized businesses thrive. After COVID hit in 2020 and everyone was sent home, we experienced a massive increase in usage and revenue as a rush of businesses and professionals discovered the need for automated scheduling. A year later, we rebranded to CalendarHero from our original name, Zoom.ai, to better highlight our calendaring focus. The rebrand plus the growing popularity of hybrid and remote work environments has propelled us to new heights, growing our revenue 50% month over month recently.

Why Vendasta?

When I first met Brendan King, Vendasta’s boisterous CEO and co-founder, I knew that we were kindred spirits, shared similar values and that our companies would fit together well. Vendasta’s expansive growth and customer base is a perfect match for CalendarHero’s industry-leading meeting scheduler and team.

I’m also eager to share that in addition to joining forces as companies — all CalendarHero employees will be joining Vendasta, myself included. 

Vendasta is the end-to-end platform for companies that sell digital solutions to local businesses. The channel partners Vendasta serves and those partners’ SMB clients will soon be able to enjoy the incredible tools we’ve created. Vendasta is a rocket ship and we are ready to add more fuel to it.

What does this mean for CalendarHero customers? 

I want to sincerely thank our customers for being along for the ride! 

CalendarHero will continue to deliver a delightful experience for new and existing users with the most advanced meeting scheduler. We’ll also continue to add new features and improve our product now with the support of Vendasta. You can also expect CalendarHero’s ability to integrate with Vendasta to grow over time.

How did we get here?

It all starts with the team

While we built the most technologically advanced scheduling software, we also prioritized creating a fair, safe, and collaborative work environment where each team member could shine and grow. That’s our secret sauce.

Great startup culture isn’t a foosball table nor an office keg — authentic culture is when we feel empowered to be our best selves together. Building a startup isn’t easy, but I’m proud that our team continues to represent our core values of respect, balance, and collaboration. 

Our team has become one of the most knowledgeable teams on meeting scheduling anywhere in the world. Their determination showcases that a small team can accomplish what much larger teams try to. 

Support from the tech community

I also want to thank the Canadian and local Toronto tech scenes. I’ve never felt more love and support than what I experienced while building this startup. CalendarHero stands on the shoulders of our wider tech community. The media mentions, awards, incubators, accelerators, word of mouth — all of it is a big part of the reason why we never gave up. 

Our angel and VC investors brought more than funding into our startup. They were there to guide us and lift us up at critical times in our startup’s history. In the early days, I wasn’t sure if my ideas would work, nor did I know a lot about AI. Thanks to our investors and accelerators (like the one that we joined in 2016 with NYC-based Betaworks), I was able to gain the momentum and support I needed to figure out how to make CalendarHero a reality.

I, and the rest of the CalendarHero team, are looking forward to continuing our commitment to our customers and changing the way meetings are scheduled.

Ideas are easy to have, but execution is what’s important. The ones who execute the ideas are the ones who succeed.

Nope! CalendarHero users can continue to use the product as they always have. CalendarHero will continue to add new features and improve the product, with the support of Vendasta.


What’s changing?

You can expect CalendarHero’s ability to integrate with Vendasta to grow over time. We see great value in offering our meeting scheduler to Vendasta’s channel partners and customers.


As a CalendarHero user, is there anything I need to do?

Is my pricing changing?

There are no plans to change our existing pricing. CalendarHero regularly assesses pricing and packaging to ensure we are competitive in the market.
